Here is a great video showcasing a Smoke Guard M1000 in Pittsburgh. As seen here, this residential building is an old three-story walk up with a fire escape. The AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) required fire-rated separation at the windows that open to the fire escape on floors two and three. Smoke Guard provided a simple solution to this problem: the Smoke Guard M1000, which deploys by a fusible link when the temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. They protect the windows to control dangerous smoke and fire from compromising the fire escape route. The units have a cool industrial look that the owners liked, so they kept it unpainted. It certainly matches the style of this building but the can also be enclosed in a sheet rock if that were preferred.
Thanks to Nate Carelli and Tim Keefe from our western PA distributor, Compu-site, for making this happen. If you’d like to know more about Smoke Guard, you can browse our blog posts about Smoke Guard, visit our Smoke & Fire Protection page, or get in touch with us directly.
